The Leo Hayes Lions dropped a 2-0 decision to the eventual tournament champion James M. Hill Tommies of Miramichi at the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association championship tournament Saturday.

Aaron Noel of the Tommies and Matt MacGregor of the Lions locked horns in a pitcher's duel, MacGregor went the distance on the mound, giving up three hits and fanning 11. But the Tommies touched him for single runs in each of the first and third innings and it proved to be enough for pitcher Aaron Noel.

The Tommies went on to claim the championship with a dramatic 4-3 win over the St. Malachy's Saints of Saint John in the final.

Tanner Henry drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh with a single off Saints' pitcher Troy Price, scoring Noel from second base after he had led off the inning with a double.

Tommies' came from behind to post the win, spotting the Saints a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, scratching back with single runs in the first and third innings.

The teams traded runs in the fifth inning to set the stage for the dramatic finish.

The Saints advanced to the final with a 5-0 shutout of the Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders in the other semifinal.
