
Pecan truffles


Decadent truffles of cheese, strawberries and pecans will thrill Mom
Instead of buying chocolates or candy for your mom on her day, why not really surprise her with homemade truffles? One bite into this decadent morsel and she'll be asking for more.
Savoury strawberry pecan truffles
Ingredients
125 ml (1/2 cup) finely chopped strawberries
30 ml (2 tbsp) port wine
375 g (12 oz) chevre
250 ml (1 cup) pecans, toasted and finely chopped
30 ml (2 tbsp) alfalfa honey
Method
In a bowl, combine strawberries with port. Let sit for 1 hour.
In a separate bowl, stir chevre until softened.
Stir in strawberry mixture. Using two teaspoons, shape cheese mixture into 1-cm (1/2-inch) balls.
Spread chopped pecans in a shallow dish. Roll cheese balls to coat all over, pressing gently. Arrange on parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
To serve, drizzle with alfalfa honey.
Makes about 48 pieces.
