Thank God for New Brunswick Microbreweries
I recently took a trip to PEI and was suprised to be told by the tourist information officer that PEI has no microbreweries. It made me think about how great it is that some really nice microbreweries have established themselves in NB in recent years.
Picaroons is a brand that I have come to love. I like it so much that you will usually find me with a few bottles of it everytime I leave an ANBL store.
My favourite Picaroons beer would likely be the 'Best Bitter'. It has a nice taste and is refreshing. However, almost every bottle of Picaroons is a good one.
Pumphouse also offers some nice choices. I usually prefer Pumphouse Red or Pumphouse Blueberry Ale. Again, these beers are refreshing and have a great taste.
These beers also pair very well with summertime food such as steak, hamburgers, shrimp or roasted vegetables.
As you can see, microbreweries offer great product whereever you live. It's as simple as that. Anyone who has visited other provinces such as Nova Scotia will tell you about some of the great microbreweries that are located in other provinces such as Garrison and Propeller.
Don't understand me in the wrong way. Molson, Moosehead and Labatt's do offer some nice beers. Keith's and Clancy's are a few I can think of. However, the beers that microbreweries offer are great in their own way.
Variety truly is the spice of life so I encourage you to try something different that next time you are at an ANBL store or a pub. Enjoy the great NB microbreweries. I'm sure you will become a fan.
Cheers!
