Forrestall to donate painting

Nationally acclaimed Maritime artist Tom Forrestall is donating a painting to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

Forrestall announced the donation of The Juggler at a gala dinner in Fredericton earlier this month.

The gift marks the occasion of the gallery's 50th anniversary in 2009.

"Forrestall's generous gift officially launches the creation of the 50th Anniversary Legacy Collection, which will consist of 50 works of art by prominent visual artists from across the country," the gallery said in a news release.

Gallery curator and deputy director Terry Graff said other major Canadian artists are following Forrestall's lead.

"Having just announced our anniversary project, donated works of art from New Brunswick artists Bruno Bobak, Molly Lamb Bobak and Freeman Patterson, and Manitoba artists Don Reichert and Diana Thorneycroft, have already been confirmed," he said in the release.
