FLINN, GLADYS ISABEL It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Isabel Flinn (Merritt) on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on March 16, 1921 in Maple Grove, NB, a daughter of Myrtle (Donally) and Eugene Merritt. Gladys retired from the Metropolitan Store on Queen Street after 29 years of service. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church and until recently was an active member of St. Paul's Quilting Guild and the Johnston Avenue Seniors Club. Gladys particularly enjoyed quilting, her embroidery work, playing cards and especially being with her family. Gladys is survived by two sons, Eugene (Heather) and Wayne (Edith) both of Fredericton, NB; father of her children, Leroy W. Flinn of Fredericton, NB; five grandchildren, Peter Murray (Angela) of Fredericton, NB, Tanya Giles of Lawrencetown, NS, Kelly Saunders (Tom) of Fall River, NS, Shelley Thorne (Andrew) of South Winsloe, PE and Johnny Flinn of Moncton, NB; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Hopper of Prescott, ON, Leona Hood of Fredericton, NB and Eva Thomas of Cross Creek, NB; several nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her mother and father; step father, Cecil Cornish; brothers, Theodore Merritt, Irvine Cornish and Ian Cornish; great granddaughter, Sara Letha Murray. Following Gladys' request there will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 2 pm at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest United Church Cemetery, Stanley, NB. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Hillcrest United Church Cemetery or St. Paul's United Church Restoration Fund would be appreciated by the family.
