Lincoln woman rescued from fire
Published Thursday July 2nd, 2009

The Oromocto Fire Department pulled a woman from a burning mini-home at 24 Black Duck Drive in Lincoln early Wednesday morning.
Fire Chief Jody Price said the department received the call from dispatch at 8:25 a.m. and were on the scene minutes later.
Upon arrival, Price said, firefighters encountered a mini-home with a fire in the kitchen and a woman trapped in the bedroom.
Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire.
They found the woman and carried her outside and rendered First Aid until an ambulance arrived.
Dispatchers for 9-1-1 were at first unable to determine the initial problem due to the woman coughing on the phone, Price said.
They were then able to determine the address and that the home was full of smoke.
Dispatchers stayed on the line with the woman who eventually lost consciousness and were able to guide firefighters to her location inside the mini-home, he said.
"I believe the actions of the City of Fredericton 9-1-1 dispatchers and firefighters from the Oromocto Fire Department were directly responsible for saving the life of the lady rescued from the mini-home today,'' said Price.
"The 9-1-1 dispatchers kept the lady on the line and continually updated firefighters en route.
"When the firefighters arrived on scene they quickly entered and extinguished the fire, conducted a search, found and rescued the woman."
District 2 RCMP and officials from the Oromocto Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
There was smoke damage throughout the home, Price said.
The woman, 46, was taken to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
