Climate | Protesters take to streets to get message across

Concerned Frederictonians rallied at the former Acadian Lines bus station Saturday to make it clear that they're serious about climate change.
Despite the pouring rain, about 25 people gathered outside as part of International Day of Climate Action.
Almost 200 countries around the world hosted more than 5,000 rallies, marches and protests to encourage awareness of the world's climate crisis.
The number 350 was prominently displayed on signs and banners at the rally. This number is in reference to a goal perpetuated by the website www.350.org, which was created by author and environmentalist Bill McKibben.
The site states that, according to many scientists and climate experts, 350 parts per million is the amount of carbon dioxide that can safely exist in the earth's atmosphere.
The atmosphere has surpassed that number and contains about 390 parts per million. 350.org states that this has led to consequences such as the melting of the Greenland ice sheet and methane releases from permafrost melt.
International Day of Climate Action was conceived through the website. The event occurred six weeks before the annual United Nations climate talks, which will take place in Copenhagen in December.
Julie Michaud, climate action co-ordinator for the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, said it's important that people voice their concerns at a local level if they want to make a difference internationally.
"I think rallying at a local level does make a difference," she said. "It's guaranteed to make more of a difference than saying nothing at all.
"Today we're a small group on a rainy day, but we're a part of the other groups too. We're part of a larger movement."
Michaud said she'll be interested to see what happens at the UN meeting in Copenhagen. She said this is a crucial time for world leaders to take a stand and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
"We have to let our public officials know how we feel about this issue," she said. "It is so important that we help the people in developing countries who did the least to contribute to the problem but are suffering the most because of it.
"Around the world today, everyone is asking for climate justice."
Craig Mazerolle, a St. Thomas University student who interned at the Conservation Council last summer, said he was thrilled to be taking part in the Fredericton rally.
"This is the most widespread day of political action ever," he said. "There has never been anything close to this scale before."
Mazerolle said he believes that the outcry from the public will show politicians that people around the world are serious about climate issues and reducing carbon dioxide levels.
He addressed his fellow protesters, saying this is the time in history when serious changes must occur through actions rather than words.
"For decades, we have tried to use our words to move our leaders," Mazerolle said.
"There's no time left to wait, so there's little time left to talk."

They have perpetrated this hoax on the world and through the education system a whole generation of environmental robots have been created, who worship every word out of the mouths of people like David Suzuki and Al Gore.
Well Suzuki sold out to WalMart and Al Gore stands to make billions of Carbon Credit Swaps. No one is willing to accept this as truth because the Mainstream Media has brainwashed you.
The human population is an insignificant spec in its CO2 contributions to the environment. Without CO2 plants could not survive to produce O2 for us to breathe.
The biggest climate changing mechanism is the sun. It has cycles that put the earth through warming and cooling periods. Have you ever heard of the Ice Age? HELLO!
:L
When Canada signs in December we will be allowing the accord to trump our Constitution.
It will give the government the power to enter your home and assess your 'carbon footprint', to which you will be taxed. Your vehicle, the food you eat, the clothes you wear will all be input into the equation.
The larger your home, the more you will pay. On average a family of 4 will pay an additional $4300 per year in carbon tax.
So where does the money go? Well it is supposed to go to Third World Countries but the middle men stand to make billions. Take Al Gore, he will be a Carbon Credit Swaper. Company X is over the limit buys (at a rate cheaper than the tax) carbon credits from Company Z, who is under the limit. Company X dodges the tax and company Z makes some money. Nice little scam that is, but too bad that this will not be available to households.
Watch what Lord Moncton has to say on this:

I bet when you were standing out in the rain speaking out about 350 PPM that you never gave this any consideration. You people are supporting the enslavement of humanity to a NEW WORLD ORDER, where private enterprise will use government agencies to tax you and rob you blind.
It was not good enough for us to recycle, they want our money so our standard of living is lowered.
A BIG BIG SCREW YOU TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER and anyone who supports them.

PS. Please debunk what I am saying. I hope it is not true but alas it is.
Wake up - for your children' sake.

I wonder If anyone attending this rally drove there car there polluting the atmosphere.

The treaty actually says in paragraphs 36 and 38 that there will be a new world-wide government.
:L
If you're that easily misled, I've got a great deal on a bridge for you. You could make a mint off of the tolls in just one year.
Boogie is 0% right and has been debunked in these forums so many times, it's difficult to keep count.
Here's a challenge to you - prove it yourself. Find one credible source that says the Copenhagen Protocol (that is the correct name, by the way) will actually create a new world government and that doesn't use Lord Monckton as its information source. By credible, I don't mean a YouTube video or a document posted on a blog site, I mean a legitimate, mainstream resource that can actually be verified and backed up. None have been presented so far.
Now find any credible source that says that Canada actually plans on signing such a document.
Let's see how bright you are. Step up to the plate and back up your claims with anything that has even a hint of legitimacy to it.
I'll even present the same challenge to you Boogie, show us one credible, trustworthy, source that isn't a blog, youtube video, or conspiracy theorist-backed website that actually confirms what you're saying.
Why should the onus be on us to prove you're wrong when you can't prove you're right?
