Relax, there is no global climate change conspiracy

People who deny the reality of human-caused global warming are wetting their pants over the illegal theft and release of emails from scientists at the East Anglia Climate Research Unit.

In their desperation, the deniers claim the emails point to a global conspiracy by the world's scientists and government leaders to ...well, it's hard to say what they believe the conspiracy is about.

A letter to a Vancouver newspaper some time ago indicates the way many of them think. The writer claimed that people working to address global warming "are ideological zealots pursuing a quasi-religious socialist agenda to command and control western economies."

It would be funny if it didn't echo the thinking of so many people - even some in influential positions in government and industry - and if the situation weren't so critical.

Sadly for the deniers and for all of us, the emails don't show that global warming is a grand hoax or conspiracy.

They do nothing to diminish the decades of overwhelming scientific evidence that the Earth is not only warming, largely because of emissions from burning fossil fuels, but that it's worse than we thought.

Recently, 26 scientists from Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, the U.S. and Australia released a report showing that the impacts of global warming are occurring faster and are more widespread than other reports from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had projected.

The report, titled The Copenhagen Diagnosis, summarized the most recent research from around the world, which shows that Arctic sea ice is melting faster than we thought, that both Greenland and Antarctica are losing more ice than predicted, and that sea levels are rising more quickly than anticipated. The scientists conclude that the Earth could reach several "tipping points" if we keep pumping emissions into the atmosphere at the same rate.

It's astounding that those who deny that climate change exists or that it is human-caused, either out of self-interest or ignorance, are willing to see some grand conspiracy in a handful of stolen emails but are unwilling to see the undeniably clear evidence of the impacts of climate change already occurring around the world.

Despite the overwhelming scientific evidence, world leaders are dragging their heels in the lead-up to the Copenhagen climate summit this month.

As University of Victoria climate scientist Andrew Weaver notes, in abandoning the idea of reaching a binding agreement in Copenhagen, world leaders are essentially saying that they don't believe they owe anything to our children and grandchildren.

Unfortunately, Canada has a poor record on climate change and international negotiations to address the problem. Our government argues that the economy takes precedence over the environment.

Our prime minister wasn't even planning to attend the Copenhagen summit until U.S. President Barack Obama announced he was going. Canadians citizens can take some credit for the prime minster's about-face.

He is said to have reconsidered in part because of a recent Angus Reid poll that indicated most Canadians want him to attend.

Beyond the poll, 3,000 scientists recently sent an open letter urging the government "to negotiate an outcome that will rapidly and adequately address climate change."

One of the strongest messages came from a coalition of representatives from the developing world, Commonwealth secretary-general Kamalesh Sharma, former U.K. international development secretary Clare Short, climate scientist Saleemul Huq, and British environment and development groups.

They argue that Canada should be suspended from the Commonwealth for ignoring the impact of climate change on the world's poorest countries.

Our leaders have a historic opportunity in Copenhagen to address the most serious crisis that humanity has faced. As citizens, we have the responsibility to let them know that we expect them to act.

I think the fact that earth is warming is more than evident. I don't think people are denying global warming as much as they are denying that it is 100% man-made. Many feel that it is cyclical and being pinned 100% on humans to enforce a carbon tax that will make an elite few very wealthy. Very possible considering man's greedy history, non?

The "Grand Conspiracy", is that there is only "One Cause” for Climate Change, and we are only allowed to address that one cause, “Green House Gas Emissions”!

There is more scientific evidence that “Man Made Resonating Radiant Energy” is the TRUE cause of Global Warming, and we don’t even have to fudge the numbers when we do the math. Nobody is allowed to talk about it - it is not on the Agenda for the Copenhagen meeting.

The number one indicator of Climate Changed named in the UN IPCC Report was Carbon 14 Dioxide! It is only made in the Atmosphere by Radiant Energy. It is NOT a Green House Gas Emission! The only new source of Radiant Energy in the Atmosphere is mans. In 1983 we INCREASED our ability to put it there by a factor of 400. Four times more of this Electro Magnetic Radiant Energy gets absorbed over the planets Polar Regions, where Climate Change is occurring 4 times faster.

WE ARE NO CONSPIRING!
WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE THE PLANET WITH THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!

John, C-14 is produced in the upper atmosphere by thermal neutrons absorbed by nitrogen atoms. It occurs in trace amounts, making up less than 1 part per trillion of the carbon in the atmosphere. The amount of C-14 has much more to do with solar variation than anything that mankind could possibly do.

1. You're chasing a red herring.
2. You're not trying to save the planet, you're trying to save humans. We're just an irritant on the earth's surface. It will shake us off like a pesky flea; just as it did with dinosaurs, ice ages, meteor strikes, and everything else the cosmos has thrown at it. Don't worry about the planet, it will be fine.
3. Calm down and do deep breathing exercises. You're getting worked up over nothing.

I don't understand why a guy like David Suzuki is so afraid of having the real evidence analyzed. The fact remains that the emails that Suzuki claims were illegally obtained were actually subject to public disclosure under freedom of information requests. What is shocking is that the contents of these emails reveal that these scientists were planning on deleting past emails putting global warming science into question, rather than submit them as required by the freedom of information act. These high profile scientists also discussed how to hide global cooling trends and how to discredit any science critical of global warming. Because these scientists were heavily referenced by the IPCC, I would say their apparent corruption is highly relevant to the debate. However, Mr. Suzuki (a geneticists, not a climatologist)would have us believe that the world should ignore this at his command. I'll look at the evidence myself thanks.

Man is NOT completely responsible for the Global Warming. It is a proven fact that the earth has gone through warming and cooling cycles in the past and they continue. We are currently at the end of an ice age. That means the earth is warming. Yes, man has contributed to greenhouse gases but the carbon out put is not the worst. It is well known that one of the worst greenhouse gases is methane. Man contributes to this by cattle farming. Cattle and other ruminants produce the majority of the free methane gas found in our atmosphere. If you want to blame some one, blame the vegetarians. They are not doing there part to keep the cattle population down. Now, go barbecue a thick steak. (but do it naturally, not propane)

Dear Ruby Tuesday

On Sept 11, 2001 we turned off Wireless Telecommunications for 6 hours. Following this there was a measurable reduction in C14O2 in the Atmosphere. Grounding planes didn't do it, a reduction in Global Dimming would increase C14O2 for the very reason you stated. Resonating Oxygen Atoms are needed to make C14O2. Oxygen Atoms Resonate between the frequencies of 54 to 66 Gigahertz. We use these frequencies to transmit long distance phone calls! Non Resonating Oxygen bonds with Hydrogen to form H20, the Atmospheres cooling fluid.

Non-Radioactive CO2 works as an insulator for both hot and cold it helps keep your pop cold. Elector Magnetic Radiant Energy only heats you can buy a heating system for your home that works on this principal. This manmade energy gets trapped by the Planet’s Magnetic Field and heats on contact with matter air born Green House Gases or Polar Ice on the ground! Green Houses Gases that are not allowed to cool will buildup in the Atmosphere.

Here is a perspective on the global warming issue combining concerns from both sides of the political spectrum.
Some say that debating global warming is irrelevant, since cutting pollution can only benefit our health. However, there is a flaw in this logic.
All agree that reducing toxic gas emission would benefit all. That said, carbon dioxide, which is both emitted and absorbed by the world's oceans, is not a toxic gas. This is more relevant if co2 is not causing global temperatures to rise. In fact, the recent exposed emails reveal temperatures may have been dropping this last 10 years.
So how does a carbon tax or cap and trade policy hurt? It creates a way for big multi-national companies and governments to expand profits by buying bulk amounts of cheap carbon credits and selling them back to the little guy for a premium. This makes it hard for the little guy to get ahead and enriches multi-nationals. A big price to pay, while big corp gets rich, if co2 isn't a real problem.

Thank You Sebastian MacLean

Temperatures are dropping around the world over the last 10 years, but the Arctic is still melting and faster. That is because the energy that is causing it does cause a temperature change until it touches it. Reducing air born GHGs means a cooler Atmosphere, but more Electro Magnetic Radiant Energy will reach the Polar Ice. GHGs like CO2 are insulating the Polar Regions keeping them cooler.
We must reduce Man's production of EMRE to STOP Climate Change, and we are doing everything not too, including excluding it from the Copenhagen Talks!

It's good to see that more and more people are begining to see what is truly happening here with the AGW movement. David Suzuki and his fellow "experts" are beginning to sweat. You can tell by the desperation in the way they talk about those who DARE to counter their assertions.

He refers to the illgal theft and release of emails when in reality, the crime of International fraud at the highest level is a tad more concerning. Science is not meant to be used as a political tool with the end game being personal gain. Suzuki, as a so-called scientist, should be ashamed of his own behaviour.
