Two teams from the V-Reds Prospects hockey development program were among the winners at the Warrior Meltdown tournament held in Montreal, a 32-team event including teams from Canada, the U.S. and Sweden.

The '93 V-Reds Prospects won the bantam division, defeating Mississauga Ice Dogs 4-3 in the final while the '92 V-Reds Prospects prevailed in their age category as well, defeating Nick Bauer Selects from the mid-west 4-2 in the final.

Major highlight for the '92 team was the play of goaltender Tyler Piercy of Fredericton with seven goals allowed in seven games including a pair of shutouts.

The V-Reds Prospects had six teams in the tournament overall, with five of the six advancing to cross-over playoffs. In all, 78 players involved with the V-Reds Prospects program competed in the tournament with 75 expected back in the city to attend the UNB V-Red Senior Advanced Camp.
