A wild caribou roams the tundra near the Meadowbank Gold Mine located in the Nunavut Territory of Canada on March 25. Caribou once flooded over the Arctic tundra in herds that took days to pass. Recent surveys on two major caribou herds in Canada's North suggest their numbers are not only declining, but collapsing.
