Fredericton Folks On Spokes, a bicycle group for ages 50 and up plus interested visitors to the city, will leave for its weekly ride at 10 a.m. from the Trail Visitors Centre, on the north side of the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge to the north side, for a ride on the Northside Trail to Douglas and further for those who wish a longer ride. Wear a biking helmet and bring drinking water.

The official turning on of the new lights at the Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club will be held at the bowling green in Wilmot Park at 8:30 p.m. Mayor Brad Woodside will throw the switch to light the green. A reception, hosted by the city, will follow the ceremony. The lights will enable extended use of the green particularly as the days get shorter in September and October.

A Look Good Feel Better workshop will be held from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. and will teach participants how to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment have on their appearance. Miscellaneous
Researchers at UNB are interested in learning about parents' and guardians' perceptions about their child's health and weight. Parents or guardians of a child between 3-12 years are invited to participate in this study. Participation will take approximately 20 minutes and involves completing a questionnaire and having the child's height, weight, and waist measured. It will be done on campus at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym. Free copies of Canada's Food Guide, Activity Guide, and an invitation to an evening seminar on health and active living, focusing on nutrition and physical activity. A 55th anniversary and reunion for families who lived in the communities expropriated to build Canadian Forces Base Gagetown will be held Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6. Registration on Saturday will be at the Queenstown Orange Hall, 4424 Route 102, The Base Gagetown Community History Association will hold an annual meeting at 1 p.m., followed by musical entertainment. A community supper will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 12 and children under six free. A dance at 9 p.m. with Allison Inch, Stirling Nickerson and Marge Howe. Tickets are $5. On Sunday there will be a church service at 11 a.m. at the Central Hampstead Baptist Church. Guided tours on the base of the former communities of Hibernia, New Jerusalem, Enniskillen, etc., will take place in the afternoon followed by a potluck picnic at the old picnic site near the Cenotaph in New Jerusalem. Oromocto Skate Park at the Kings Arrow Arena - Open: Monday to Saturday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Helmets must be worn at all times when on skate equipment. Youth must be 13 to 18 years of age.
