The Maritime Championship Horse Pull will be held at 7 p.m. in the arena at the Fredericton Exhibition Grounds. Twenty-seven teams from N.S., P.E.I and N.B. will pull off to become Maritime champion in their class. Admission $5 per person, 12 and under free.

The Hindu temple (Maritime Geeta Bhawan), 259 Doak Rd. is celebrating its 10th anniversary. As part of this celebration there will be Janmashtami (birthday of Lord Krishna) prayers on Aug. 23, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. There will be entertainment, followed by a light snack.

An old-fashioned agricultural fair will be re-created at Kings Landing Historical Settlement on Aug. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Activities will include games of skill and chance, a lumbermen's competition, hay rides, corn husking and corn eating contests, horseshoe games, equipment displays, and exhibitions of needlework, knitting, cooking and woodworking.

An entertainment and auction night will be held at 7 p.m. at the Estey Bridge, Royal Road Recreation Centre. A free-will offering will be accepted; proceeds will to go to the Birdton Community Church. Entertainment includes Griffith Family, Barry Sullivan and Friends, Nila Beach and Dwayne Drost.

Fredericton Folks On Spokes, for people 50 and up, plus interested visitors to the city, will meet at 10 a.m. from the Trail Visitors Centre, on the north side of the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge, for a ride on the trail to Lincoln and further for those who wish a longer ride. Wear a biking helmet and bring drinking water.

Members of the Fredericton Garden Club will be meeting at the home of Minni Foss, 25 Macdonald Rd, Fredericton Junction for its annual corn boil. Starting at 6:30 p.m., participants are asked to bring food for a potluck. Corn will be provided by the garden club.

Members of Sir Leonard Tilley Chapter, IODE, and guests will meet at the home of Carol Coleman, 475 Broad St., from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. for a wine and cheese party. Plans for the fall fundraiser fashion show and silent auction to take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, Oct. 21, with fashions from Generations Ladies Wear will be on the agenda.

Oromocto Skate Park at the Kings Arrow Arena - Open: Monday to Friday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Helmets must be worn at all times when on skate equipment. After School Program - Registration packages for this licensed child-care program are available at the service centre on the third floor of the municipal offices, 4 Doyle Dr. The program is designed for school aged children (grades k-5). The cost is $50 per child per week. Full-time clients only. Maximum of 30 children. Quality co-ordinators will offer an activity-based schedule in a safe, supportive setting.
Playground Program - This program is offered for children entering Kindergarten to entering Grade 5. The playgrounds will be open until Aug. 29. A parent must be at home while the child attends.
