IODE New Brunswick donated $4,355 from the IODE Canadian Disaster Fund to Pat Burgess, senior advisor to the Canadian Red Cross, to be used for flood relief in the province.

Many families are still not settled in their homes and there is still a need.

The presentation was made during IODE's recent semi-annual meeting, held Oct. 17 - 18, in Oromocto, at the Day's Inn and chaired by Provincial President Rita Beattie.

Members representing 20 chapters attended throughout the province.

Two IODE Provincial Life Memberships were presented. One to Avalon Owen and the other to Lynda Coffey for many years of work in IODE.

Guest speaker at the dinner was Pat Carlson, president and CEO of Changes, a Fredericton non-profit enterprise offering quality used goods and training opportunities for people who have struggled to maintain employment.

The citizenship workshop featured Nicole Mahoney, a physiotherapist at CFB Gagetown, who gave an overview of the Canadian forces Soldier On program for active and retired armed service personnel, with physical or mental disabilities.

Pat Burgess, from the Canadian Red Cross, spoke at the services workshop, about the work of the Red Cross and that the two main components are disaster management and home care support.
