Monday night film series
The feature film The Damned United is being screened on Monday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. at Tilley Hall, Room 102 on the UNB campus.
Rollicking, rough-and-tumble story of the rise to fame, and infamy, of one of England’s great football (soccer) managers, Brian Clough (Michael Sheen — Frost/Nixon and The Queen).

The Playhouse
Spotlight Kidstage Series presents Old Thomas and the Little Fairy, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.
Spotlight Great Voices Series presents John McDermott — A Salute to our Veterans, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.
Ingrid Mueller Art Concepts
Peter Powning — Transmutations: The exhibit by the award winning and internationally renowned Markhamville sculptor features a series of bronze, clay, gold and glass sculptures as well as a series of glass and photographic shadow boxes. The exhibit is accompanied by a catalogue.
New gallery hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m.
Special tours can be organized. The gallery is located at 117 York St., next to Robert Simmonds.

Archaeology lecture
The Archaeological Institute of America (New Brunswick Society) announces that Dr. Sarah Nelson from the University of Denver, will present a lecture in Marshall d’Avray Hall (Room 143 — Dugald Blue Auditorium), UNB campus, Friday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The lecture entitled Korea and the Silk Road will examine how exotic objects from the Mediterranean world came to be deposited in Korean burials beginning in the first century B.C.
This is a free public event; a reception will follow.
Gallery 78
Gallery 78 is very pleased to present new work by Paul Healey. These new oil paintings range in mood from whimsical to brooding. The paintings engage the viewer and offer a gentle challenge to connect with and contemplate the elements of the everyday while slightly challenging its reality.
This exhibition opens Friday, Nov. 6 and continues until Nov. 29.

Concert
STU Fine Arts presents violinist Nadia Francavilla and guitarist Steven Peacock in a free concert of mostly 20th-century music at 12 noon on Thursday, Nov. 5, in Room 101 (the Recital Room) in Margaret Norrie McCain Hall at St. Thomas University.
The duo will present works by Albeniz, Granados, Feld, Piazzolla and Cordero.
St. Andrews Film Society
The Short Life of José Antonio Gutierrez will be screened by the St. Andrews Film Society on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the W. C. O’Neill Arena Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Most dialogue is in English, with English subtitles when necessary. Like other documentaries, this film is not rated.

Exhibition
The Gallery at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design presents a very special exhibition of work by the late Philip Iverson, Legacy.
This incredible group of painted portraits, one abstract, and one sunflower, show the expressionist style and reveal the passion of a prolific and beloved painter who devoted his life to his craft.
The show will continue at the gallery until Friday, Nov. 20.
