
Religion digest

Submissions to Religion Digest must be received by Monday noon for publication on Thursday. Items can be emailed to the editor, Forrest Orser, at religion@dailygleaner.com, or mailed to The Daily Gleaner, P.O. Box 3370, Fredericton, N.B., E3B-5A2, or dropped off in written form at the office on Prospect Street. Include your name and a telephone contact number. Each item will be run once. Items should not be longer than 50 words.
Auction
Lake George, Riverside and Kirk United Churches will hold their annual auction, with rafts, baking, preserves, new and collectible items, at the Lions Hall, Nackawic, on Friday. Viewing: 6:30 p.m. Auction: 7 p.m.
CD launch
Erdie and Julie Price will launching their second gospel CD, I Know,at Victory Tabernacle, 143 Douglas Ave., on Friday at 7 p.m. The Weavers, Gerry Flowers, Keith Young, Emily Houle and other friends will also perform.
Tea and bazaar
A chicken pattie tea and bazaar will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 780 McEvoy St. from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
MGMA event
Maritime Gospel Music Association will present the Joy to the World Christmas event on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. at Crosspoint Church, 4 Manzer Ct. There will have displays from many MGMA artists for purchase as Christmas presents. Featured artists will include Christine Crain, Barb Prosser Winder, the McGuires, the Ascensions and Gerald Rushton. Advance tickets are $12 and are available at CJRI Studio, Main Street, the Lighthouse Book Store and the Olive Branch.
Gospel concert
A gospel concert will be held at Morning Gate Church, 74 Morning Gate Dr., on Sunday at 7 p.m. featuring Barry Sullivan and Sandra Boucher, Nancy and Tom Donovan, Twila Estey, Violet Paisley and Deb MacDonald. A free-will offering will be taken with proceeds going to the Fredericton Food Bank and Samaria House.
Hanging of greens
A hanging of the greens service will be held at Marysville United Church, 351 Canada St., 11 a.m. Sunday Nov. 29, the first Sunday of Advent. Participants will hear the history of traditions related to trimming for the Christmas season. Light refreshment will follow. Donations for Chrysalis House accepted.
Concert
Stephanie Mainville and Friends will perform at Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church, 55 Corbett Ave., on Sunday at 6 p.m. The band will play accordion, whistles, flute, Celtic harp, cello, bazouki, dobro, violin and other instruments. A free-will offering will be taken at the concert.
Surviving the holiday
Brunswick Street Baptist Church will offer two free workshops to help those going through divorce or grief from death through the Christmas season. On Monday at 7 p.m. Surviving the Holidays/GreifShare will be offered and on Tuesday at 7 p.m. the Surviving the Holidays/DivorceCare workshop. North Cardigan
On Sunday at 3 p.m., North Cardigan United Church will host an Advent service with carol singing and guitar music. Following the service, there will be a pot luck in the basement. For more information, please contact Barb Wilkins, 367-2439.
Advent series
The second session of the Advent series with Bishop Bill Hockin and Rev. Dr. Barry Craig, entitled 1st Century Treasures for 21st Century Shoppers - Believing Again in a World That Has Given Up, commences on Monday at the St. John Room of the Crowne Plaza Fredericton Hotel from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.
