Monday Night Film Series

The feature film Il Divo is being screened on Monday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. at Tilley Hall, room 102 on the UNB campus.

Gallery 78

This is the last weekend to see Paul Healey's paintings at Gallery 78. The exhibition ends Sunday, Nov. 29.

Beginning Friday, Dec. 4, Gallery 78 presents the work of award-winning jeweler Kristyn Cooper and the abstract paintings of Acadian artist Lionel Cormier.

During the month of December, don't miss the ever-popular Christmas Choice exhibition. Gallery 78 exhibits the work of many fine artists, many from New Brunswick.

Nutcracker Suite

Dance Fredericton presents the Nutcracker Suite with original choreography, stunning costumes and Fredericton ballet dancers on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at le Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne, 715 Priestman St. Guest soloists will be professional dancers Olena Zakharova and Anton Lykhanov from the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada.

Tickets available at The Playhouse box office and online at www.theplayhouse.nb.ca/ and are $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Ingrid Mueller Art Concepts

Christmas exhibit: Ceramic artist Juliette Scheffers and her crystalline pottery will be featured at the Christmas exhibit. Smaller and larger works by emerging and established gallery artists will also be on display. New paintings by Deanna Musgrave, Adam MacDonald and Stephen Williams have arrived. The exhibit opens Friday, Dec. 4, 5-8 p.m.

Gallery hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m.

Organ recital

A noon-hour concert series will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, corner of Brunswick and Church streets on Friday, Dec. 4 from 12:10 p.m. - 12:50 p.m. with Dr. Sharon Pond, associate organist, Christ Church Cathedral.

Charlotte Glencross Gallery

Works by Fredericton's Wendy Forrest and Pennfield's Sheri (Burhoe) Larsen are on exhibit at the Charlotte Glencross Gallery until the end of December. The formal opening will be Friday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m., in conjunction with an opening at the gallery of the New Brunswick Crafts Council. Both galleries are in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, 732 Charlotte St.

Emerging Artist series

Chris and Debbie Black and Ingrid Mueller Art Concepts are pleased to continue the successful and popular Emerging Artist Series with a new series Stately Elms by Fredericton artist Marcus Kingston, at The Blue Door restaurant, corner of King and York streets. The exhibit is subtitled Views of Fredericton. Each painting features an elm tree in its actual surroundings. Opening reception: Saturday, Dec. 12, 2-5 p.m.

Lintuhtine Choirs

Lintuhtine Choirs with special guests, Barbara Roberts (narrator); Derrick Paul Miller (tenor); J. David Berry (pipe organist); and Scott Kennedy (violinist) present The Christmas Story on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at Oromocto United Church and Sunday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, Fredericton.

A monetary donation at the door; proceeds going to the Oromocto Food Bank and Fredericton Food Bank.

Family movie matinée

To celebrate the wonder of beavers, The Friends of the UNB Woodlot are holding a free movie matinée on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Doors open at 2 p.m. They will be showing the DVD version of the immensely successful IMAX film: Beavers, filmed entirely in Canada by Stephen Low. This is a beautiful film about the life cycle of the beaver.

There will be no admission, but donations are welcome to help us in the group's efforts to save the UNB Woodlot from more development.

Wassail concert

The Bel Canto Singers, under the direction of Anne Sessa, will present their annual Wassail concert on Saturday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m. at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 536 Northumberland St., and on Sunday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, Gagetown.

Tickets $15 Adults, $10 students and seniors, $30 families. Available from Westminster Books; choir members; and at the door.

Russian music

Nadia Francavilla and Simon Docking perform Russian music for violin and piano on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., Memorial Hall, UNB. Featured composers include Shostakovich, Pärt, Gliere, Schnittke and Gubaidulina.

There will be a pre-concert talk at 7p.m.

UNB Chorale, Concert Band to perform

A night of musical diversity awaits you as the UNB Chorale and UNB Concert Band present their annual Christmas concert on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 8p.m., Memorial Hall, UNB.

A second screening of Fredericton: A Cultural Capital Film Screenings will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, upstairs auditorium. Free of charge.

Pianist Julien LeBlanc will be visiting New-Brunswick for a solo recital on Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Tickets available at the door; adults $15, students $8.

Film screening

It's A Gift, a 1934 black and white American comedy classic, will be screened by the St. Andrews Film Society on Sunday, Nov. 29 at the W. C. O'Neill Arena Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
