
St. Anne’s Point Chapter IODE meeting

The regular monthly meeting of St. Anne's Point Chapter IODE was held in the home of Kay Robinson. The president, Joyce Gagnon declared the meeting open for transactions and business. The meeting engaged the members in the discussions of a full agenda. Newly elected treasurer, Leanne Carroll-Chu reported on the financial status of the chapter.
The total number of service hours recorded highlighted the depth of the commitment the members have to community service. The talent and generosity of Mary Jane Colwell was highlighted for her donation of 40 pairs of mittens for Transition House as well as 41 pairs for the Food Bank last month. The additional mittens received from Colwell during the meeting are to be directed to the chapter's adopted schools.
The president thanked the members for their generous donations to both the gourmet basket as well as for the large variety of donations to the Fredericton Food Bank.
Members were reminded of the semi-annual meeting to be held at the Day's Inn Oct. 17 and 18 which will assist those attending by developing a deeper awareness, knowledge, understanding an appreciation of the IODE.
Engaging the interest of women in the area in the aims and objectives of the chapter was discussed as members reflected on the focus of enlarging the membership list. Following the meeting a time of fellowship was enjoyed by all. The next meeting of the chapter will be held at the home of Cathy Edwards on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
