I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who made the second annual UNB Women's Basketball Breakfast For Success such a fantastic event.

The breakfast, held April 30 at the Fredericton Inn, was sold out, as approximately 375 people were in attendance to support the UNB women's basketball program and celebrate girl's basketball in southern New Brunswick.

Ruth Henry-Dickinson, Laura Swift-Christie, Tracy MacDonald, Reg Springer, Charlie Sharpe, Linda Speedy, Jennifer Speedy and Bridget Gamble were all chairs of various aspects of the breakfast, from ticket sales to media relations to the auction, just to name a few. These people worked very, very hard and did an absolutely fabulous job.

Cindy Mavety, Harold and Pam Steed, Mary Lue Springer, Carl Speedy, Carolyn Peppin, Kathy McBride, Chris Sharpe, Pam Corby and Denise Rowe also were invaluable in helping put this event together.

Our program is truly blessed with amazing support from alumni and parents of current V-Reds players. Doug Beairsto, Nelda Robbins, Pauline Lordon and Sharon McCracken were also a huge help at the event to ensure everything ran smoothly.

I must also thank Dr. Erin Savage, another alumnus of our program, who cleared her schedule, flew to Fredericton and delivered a speech that few in attendance will ever forget. Great job, Erin, and thanks so much for being such a perfect role model to the many young women in attendance at this year's Breakfast For Success.

Last but not least, I want to thank everyone who bought tickets and/or attended the breakfast. The support our program receives from this community is unbelievable.

Thanks for making the time to attend our very special event and we hope to see you next year at the third annual UNB Women's Basketball Breakfast For Success.
