Workshops to focus on domestic violence
Published Tuesday December 2nd, 2008

The Muriel McQueen Fergusson Foundation will host a public event and workshop Wednesday and Thursday about ways to engage men on issues of domestic violence.
The sessions will take place at the University of New Brunswick's Wu Conference Centre.
Mike Rempel, research director for the foundation, will be the keynote speaker at a 7 p.m. session Wednesday.
Rempel participates in projects involving the court system, domestic violence and the application of problem-solving principles in the court setting.
The session will continue with a workshop at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Government workers, community-based organizations, academics and interested parties will discuss a man's role in reducing violence against women.
Jocelyn Lindsay, a professor at Laval University, will guide the morning discussion.
The sessions aim to explore a better understanding of the community's resources, challenges encountered by men who hope to get involved in the issue and the gaps in services for male abusers.
These workshops target anyone who works with men or in the fields of violence against women or family violence.
