Tree-lighting on tonight at city hall
Published Friday December 5th, 2008

The mayor's annual tree-lighting ceremony is today at 8 p.m. in front of city hall on Queen Street.
"There will be a candle-light parade down Queen Street to city hall accompanied by the Fredericton Concert and Marching Band and carolers, and everyone is invited to come out and get in the spirit of the season with us," said Mayor Brad Woodside.
Complimentary apple cider will be served by the 3rd and 7th Fredericton Scouts, Cubs and Venturers. The Fredericton Youth Choir, under the direction of Amber Bishop, will provide seasonal music.
This year's tree is an eight-metre balsam fir donated to the city by Wayne and Donna O'Hara of Folkstone Court. The tree and city hall will be decorated with 2,660 energy-saving LED lights.
"We are always looking for ways to make our city the greenest in Canada, and that's why we are using these energy-saving bulbs on the tree again this year," said Woodside.
Santa will also be on hand with candy canes for everyone.
