UPPER ISLAND COVE, N.L. - Two boys who police believe plunged off a cliff in eastern Newfoundland while riding an all-terrain vehicle were remembered Saturday as teenagers full of life and love.
More than 600 mourners, including family and friends, filled St. Peter's Anglican Church in Upper Island Cove, N.L., to pay tribute to Max Antle-Sharpe and Ryan Coombs, both 15.
Police ended their search more than a week ago for the boys, who went for an ATV ride in the community on Dec. 21 and haven't been seen since.
Crews recovered a boot wedged into the rocks and a mangled ATV, but searchers have failed to find any other sign of the boys along the cliffside or in the waters below.
The search teams and fire departments were thanked for their tireless effort during Saturday's memorial service.
Rev. William Strong said the entire region has been affected by the loss, but he was hopeful the service would bring some comfort.
