ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A Newfoundland man is facing charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats after police officers were allegedly threatened with a piece of lumber.
Members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary stopped a vehicle in St. John's around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the driver left the vehicle and became aggressive toward officers. The man allegedly threatened to assault the officers and made gestures to do so.
When other officers arrived, the man allegedly grabbed a piece of lumber and held it in an aggressive manner while refusing to go with the officers. The accused, who's 44 and from St. John's, has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
