BOUCTOUCHE - Nine face more than 60 charges for fires
Nine people are facing 63 charges stemming from a series of deliberately set fires and acts of vandalism in several communities in southeastern New Brunswick last fall.
Two Bouctouche men, aged 21 and 19, and an 18-year-old man from Ste. Anne de Kent will appear in Richibucto provincial court today.
Six others - all teens aged 16 or 17 - will appear in Richibucto youth court Wednesday.
The charges cover crimes in Bouctouche, McKees Mills, McNairn, Notre-Dame, Richibucto-Village, St-Anne de Kent, Ste-Marie and surrounding areas in October and November.
Among the numerous charges are arson, theft of gas and mischief.
The RCMP is continuing to investigate other incidents, including a suspicious fire at Pays de la Sagouine.
Police unable to rule out foul play in man's death
SIX ROADS - RCMP haven't been able to rule out foul play in the death of a man whose body was discovered in northeast New Brunswick.
The body was found Sunday in the burned remains of a mini-home in the community of Six Roads on the Acadian Peninsula.
Police say both the fire and the death are suspicious.
The name of the man - believed to be in his 40s - hasn't been released.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police say witnesses are being interviewed and their investigation continues.
