Submissions to Religion Digest must be received by Monday noon for publication on Thursday. Items can be e-mailed to the editor, Forrest Orser, at religion@dailygleaner.com, or mailed to The Daily Gleaner, P.O. Box 3370, Fredericton, N.B., E3B 5A2, or dropped off in written form at the office on Prospect Street. Include your name and a telephone contact number. Each item will be run once. Items should not be longer than 50 words.
Book launch
A book launch will be held at The Catholic Bookstore, 48 Waterloo St., Saint John, on Feb. 14, from 1-4 p.m. Lorraine Shonaman will be there to sign her book, What is the Holy Spirit Saying to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal after 40 Years? The cost is $10 per book.
Valentine supper
A Valentine supper will be held at St. Clement's Anglican Church Hall on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. The supper will feature baked ham, potato scallop, potato salad, beans, brown bread, rolls, dessert table, tea and coffee. Adults $10, children $5, preschool free. Storm date is Sunday, Feb. 15.
Family curling event at Wilmot United
A family curling event will be held at the Capital Winter Club on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $9. A soup luncheon will be held following worship at Wilmot United Church on Feb. 15, with proceeds given to Canadian Landmine Foundation. A seniors' Valentine potluck will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 12 noon.
Family brunch at Patterson United
Patterson United Church, 6705 Route 101, Wirral will host a breakfast on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The menu includes, bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, toast, french toast, tea, coffee and juice. The price is adults: $5; 12 and under $3 and under six free. The basement is wheelchair accessible.
Service at Church of the Nazarene
At the Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Clair Mullen will bring the message on Sunday morning and Rev. Bill Gowan will be back at the grand piano.
Wind ensemble at Grace Memorial
Grace Memorial Baptist Church will host The Acadia University Wind Ensemble in concert on Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. The concert will include music by Bach, Morton Lauridsen, and David Maslanka. Admission is by freewill offering at the door.
Pancake supper at St. Francis of Assisi
A pancake supper with all the trimmings will be served the week before Shrove Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall in Lincoln, Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Adults: $6, children under 10, $3.50.
Ham dinner at Gibson Memorial
A ham dinner and bake table will be held at Gibson Memorial United Church, 183 Gibson St., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 4:30-6 p.m. Adults: $10; Child: $3. Tickets at door or by calling 457-1951.
Workshop at meditation centre
The Fredericton Shambhala Meditation Centre is offering a free workshop in mindfulness and awareness meditation on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 20 Serenity Lane, corner of Hanwell Road. The workshop will be lead by an authorized meditation instructor. For further information call Veit Weber at 463-2758.
Luncheon bridge on Feb. 26
St. Theresa's Catholic Women's League will host its annual luncheon bridge on Thursday, Feb. 26, 12 noon in the church hall at 2 William St., corner of Royal Road. All bridge players are welcome. To book a table at $40 per table, call Leona Ryan 472-7453. Storm date is Feb. 27.
