Soldiers to examine bridges along Waasis Road today

Students from the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering will be studying bridges along Waasis Road between Fredericton and Oromocto today.

There will be no weapons or ammunition involved in the conduct of this training.

The activity isn't expected to pose a significant disturbance to the community.

Woman jailed for thefts

A judge sentenced a city woman Tuesday to three months behind bars for shoplifting on two occasions.

Cynthia Marie Rostad of 273 Brunswick St. previously pleaded guilty in provincial court to stealing cameras from Wal-Mart between Dec. 12-18 and stealing from the southside Atlantic Superstore on Feb. 27.

Judge Mary Jane Richards ordered a one-year term of probation to follow.

Man fined for assault

A Moncton man scheduled to stand trial for assault Tuesday instead opted to admit to the charge.

Ryan Michael Grenier changed his plea to guilty to an Oct. 21, 2005, charge of assault on a male.

Judge Mary Jane Richards fined Grenier a total of $700 for the attack.
