Don't forget to give the gift of life this summer
Published Monday June 29th, 2009

Summer months can be a struggle for Canadian Blood Services, but it's hoping to avoid that slowdown this season with a reminder that nearly everyone is a candidate to donate.
"People get out of their routines this time of year. It's important to remind them that the need for blood stays steady year round," said Paul McGrath, regional communications manager for Canadian Blood Services in Atlantic Canada.
He said there was a 40 per cent drop in national inventory last summer. The supply was depleted entirely by mid-fall, forcing Canadian Blood Services to issue a national appeal.
Area residents can donate today at Oromocto's Hazen Park Centre, from 5-8 p.m., and on Tuesday in Fredericton Junction's Sunbury West School from 5-8 p.m.
People can also donate Monday, July 6, and Tuesday, July 7, at the Fredericton Inn from 2-4 p.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m.; on Wednesday, July 8, at the Carleton Street Armoury from 2-4 p.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Friday, July 10, at Wilmot United Church from noon to 3 p.m.
