River Jam is just around the corner and 20 New Brunswick bands are preparing to get people moving for charity.

The annual celebration of homegrown talent, which is happening at the Delta Fredericton Hotel on July 10, will raise money for the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club, the Charlotte Street Art Centre, Nashwaak Valley High School and the festival's Diane London Award.

The Downtown Blues Band, Toredown, Mandy Silk and Overdrive, and Garage Mahal will perform in the main ballroom.

The Beaters, Rockin' Billies, The Stringers, the Cathy Hutch Band and Speak Easy will share a stage at DJ Purdy's.

Vegetarian Haggis, The Tallest Band On Earth, the George Street Blues Project, CGI 101, and Pat Flanagan & Love Me Three Times will play the Governor's Ballroom.

Mackinaw, Wally MacKinnon, Alex Bailey, Dave Willls, Kendra Gale and the Lilly Madison Band will perform by the pool bar.

Organizer Rick Hutchins said music fans will be able to float between the different stages from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

He said the event gives people an opportunity to enjoy several different musical experiences.

"When you're out on the patio, you can be eating a meal and watching some jazz or light folk or Celtic music. Or if you're in the bar, you could be sitting back and watching some blues and then later in the night some higher-energy performances," he said.

"But if you're in the ballroom, you can be jumping up and down, partying with the Downtown Blues Band. So there are different experiences happening in different places throughout the evening."

He said River Jam has evolved into a unique event.

"It's like a mini-festival - so many different options," he said.

"That's the key; it's fun for everybody."
