Submissions to Religion Digest must be received by Monday noon for publication on Thursday. Items can be emailed to the editor, Forrest Orser, at religion@dailygleaner.com, or mailed to The Daily Gleaner, P.O. Box 3370, Fredericton, N.B., E3B-5A2, or dropped off in written form at the office on Prospect Street. Include your name and a telephone contact number. Each item will be run once. Items should not be longer than 50 words.

Gospel concert

Hearts for Hymn Ministries will hosting an evening of gospel music on Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. to raise funds for a community kitchen at Crescent Valley Gospel Centre. Featured guests will be: Barry Sullivan and Sandra Boucher, Brenda Jones, Mike Griffin, and Hearts for Hymn.

Gospel concert

First Wesleyan Church, 131 Duncan Lane, will present a Joey Knight country gospel concert Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. Special guests will be Violet Paisley, Golden Harmony, Gerry Flowers, Gerald Rushton, Rollie Waddingham, Candace Phillips and Marty and Cynthia Hall. Tickets available at the door or in advance at CJRI, 151 Main St. and Lighthouse Bookstore, 60 Bishop Dr. Admission: $10 for adult; 12 and under, free.

Gospel evening

A gospel evening will be held at the Esteys Bridge Recreation Centre on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. Music will be by The Gospel Way and a special guest. Proceeds will go to the Birdton Community Church. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 draw. Admission will be $7 per person and children under 12, free.

Gospel concert

Keswick Ridge United Church, 653 Rte 616, Keswick Ridge, will hold an evening of music on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. Special guest will be N.L. recording artist Florence Pope. Refreshments and fellowship to follow program.

Roast beef dinner

St. Ann's Parish will be serving a roast beef dinner with homemade pies on Sunday, Oct. 4, 3:30 - 6 p.m. at the Newmarket Recreation Centre, 253 Route 3, Newmarket. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child under 12. Tickets are available at the door. Takeouts are also available.

Thanksgiving service

A service of thanksgiving will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m. in the Welsh Chapel at Cardigan. Guest speaker will be Rev. Peter Thomas, chaplain at York Manor Fredericton. His message is titled The Joy of Living Comes From A Heart of Thanksgiving. A pot luck supper will follow.

Healing service

The regular monthly healing service, sponsored by the Order of St. Luke, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, 775 Forest Hill Rd. Holy Communion, anointing with oil and laying on of hands for healing by members of the order will take place.

Franciscan Mission

The 4th annual Franciscan Mission will be held at St. Anthony's Church at 7 p.m. Oct. 4-5, and finished at St. Francis of Assisi in Lincoln at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6. Secular Franciscan Deacon Richard Boileau will be speaking on Finding True Joy. For information, call Gordon Hughes at 459-2224.

Gaspereau Forks

A Taizé service will be held Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Gaspereau Forks United Church. This will be a meditative candlelit service.

CWL annual retreat

CWL annual retreat will be held at Villa Madonna Retreat House, Rothesay, Nov. 6-8, Cost will be $175. Theme: St. Paul, Disciple and Apostle Extrodinaire.
