Albert Street closed after gas line breach
Published Tuesday November 3rd, 2009

Albert Street was cordoned off Monday over the lunch hour after a worker using an excavator to do work on a private driveway struck a buried natural gas line.
Acting platoon Capt. Steve Fraser of the Fredericton Fire Department and his pumper crew remained at the scene until Enbridge Gas company crews arrived to clamp off the line and undertake repairs.
The 300 block of Albert Street, between York and Connaught streets, was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while the repair work was done.
Dick Quigg, a resident in the 300 block, said he was reassured by the quick response by fire and natural gas officials.
"I'm glad he's checking our house," Quigg said as he watched an Enbridge staffer check levels before giving the homeowner the all-clear to return to his residence.
It took less than an hour to get the line repaired and surrounding homes checked before the street was reopened to vehicle and foot traffic.
