Wasabi needs a second look! As a member of the Lonely Hearts Club, this beautiful girl is getting anxious to find her loving forever home.

She is a four-year-old, black-and-white shorthaired cat that is happy to sit back, relax and watch the world go by. She likes her own space, but does enjoy some attention too.

Looking for a lively and curious kitty? Then Zarita may be the one for you. She loves to exploring, finding fun and enjoying the sights and sounds going on around her. She is a small black shorthair cat about a year-and-a-half old. Drop by the shelter to meet Wasabi and Zarita and you may just fall in love.

Browse the Fredericton SPCA website at frederictonspca.ca or Petfinder.ca to learn more about these and other wonderful animals up for adoption, or drop by the shelter at 165 Hilton Rd. to visit with them.

On the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 29, the SPCA is celebrating its 95th anniversary with a culinary and art event at the Crowne Plaza. It will begin with an antique sale from 1-3 p.m. which is open to the public by voluntary donation. An Animals and Art ticketed event will begin at 2 p.m. with a food and Philippe Dandurand wine sampling hosted by the Crowne Plaza chef and sommelier who will talk about the art of pairing.

There will also be a sale of quality works by well-known local artists and artisans as well as an auction of autographed celebrity paint-by-number masterpieces. Beautiful art created by animals at the Fredericton SPCA shelter will also be available for bidding.

Tickets may be purchased at The Barking Lot, Love Puppy Boutique, Global Pet Foods, Reid's Newsstand and Café, Animal Essentials, All About Animals, Islandview Veterinary Hospital and the Fredericton SPCA animal shelter.

Friends of the Fredericton SPCA have compiled their favourite recipes into a cookbook that has arrived just in time for Christmas giving at $10 a copy. The 2010 calendars will also be available in the near future featuring the winning entries of the photo contest in full colour. It's a bargain at $15. Proceeds from the sale of both items help the SPCA keep speaking up for animals.
