Therapy group honoured
Published Saturday November 7th, 2009

The New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists presented the River Valley Health's maintenance department with an award for its dedication to occupational therapy at an awards ceremony in Saint John last month.
The department was honoured with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy's Citation Award.
Maintenance staff assists occupational-therapy departments in eight facilities within River Valley Health.
The maintenance department has contributed to occupational-therapy efforts through a number of projects over the past year, such as the development of stools that allow children to support their feet during tabletop activities, creating a therapeutic garden and by fixing wheelchairs to ensure clients' safety.
"There are so many ways that this group promotes client-centered therapy. They problem solve with the occupational therapy staff to adapt, fabricate and fix anything," said Amy Bustard-McQuade, an association member from the Waterville Hospital. "I can't think of a more deserving group to receive this award."

Now I read of all the other nifty(is that still a word?) things they are doing and I'm sure it is done with all the imagination and dedication they always showed. Their work enables people like me to participate in the world in a way most don't realize.
