* The University of New Brunswick's woodlot is located south of the Vanier Highway.
* The woodlot includes more than 3,800 acres (1,537 hectares) of land.
* The woodlot is part of 8,295 acres (3,356 hectares) of land owned by UNB across the province.
* Over the course of three years, the university developed a land management strategy to decide which properties to protect for ecological and conservation aims and which sites could be used to turn a profit.
* Seven per cent, or about 270 acres (400 hectares), of the woodlot has been identified for commercial and residential development.
* The university has committed to protecting 50 per cent of the woodlot, making the rest available to lease to developers.
* Because sections of the Corbett Centre retail site had the potential to impact wetlands, an environmental impact assessment was required before development efforts could move forward.
* Under Schedule A of the Environment Impact Assessment Regulation and the Clean Environment Act, there are 24 reasons an impact assessment may be required.

* The impact assessment was required in UNB's case because the development had the potential to impact a wetland greater than two hectares.
