Minor baseball AGM slated for Nov. 16

The annual general meeting of the Fredericton Minor Baseball Association is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16 beginning 7:30 at the Fredericton Motor Inn. All members are welcome. New board members are needed. Contact person is Charles Thomas at charles.thomas@bellaliant.ca.

Harvey High hosting basketball tournament

Basketball action at Harvey High School begins in earnest Wednesday with the boys and girls teams taking on their counterparts from St. Stephen High with the girls game starting at 5:30 followed by the boys game. The Harvey girls are hosting their tip-off tournament Friday and Saturday with the Lady Lakers joined by Dalhousie Condors, Stanley Blue Devils and Caledonia Tigers. Action begins Friday at 6:30 with Stanley taking on Dalhousie followed by Harvey vs. Caledonia at 8. Action Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with games also at 12:30, 3:30 and 5 p,m. A junior boys game between Oromocto and Harvey will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Nashwaaksis senior mixed weekly bowling winners

The latest winners in the Nashwaaksis seniors mixed bowling league were: Friday action: women's high single and triple: Eva Howe, 122 and 328; high no mark: Diane Thompson 85; men's high single and triple: Guy Raymond, 112 and 288; Monday action: women's high single and triple: Geraldine Wallace 120 and 314; high no mark: Betty Foster 89; men's high single and no mark: Bill Whitlock 117 and 86; high triple: Hugh Fevens 292.

Marysville senior mixed weekly bowling winners

The latest winners in the Marysville seniors bowling league were: women's high single: Jean Vanstone 118; high triple: Dorothy Wright 303; high no mark: Carol Dickeson 84; men's high single: Fraser Bunker 106; high triple: Don Cook 291; high no mark: Fraser Grant 81.

Minto sports shrine accepting nominations

Deadline date for submitting nominations for entry into the Minto Sports Wall of Fame is Feb. 15, 2010. Nomination forms are available from the website: www.mintosportswalloffame.ca or from any member of the Board of Directors. The 2010 induction ceremony is scheduled for April 17 at the Minto Seniors Hall.
