Students take walk challenge
Published Tuesday November 10th, 2009

Students and staff at South Devon Elementary are being challenged by parents in the community to increase their physical activity and figuratively walk to Whistler, B.C., for the 2010 Olympics.
The Walk to Whistler Challenge will entail students and staff at the elementary recording their physical activity and tracking the distance on a map.
The data collected from teachers by parent volunteers will be delivered to Devon Middle School, where student volunteers will calculate and map out the distance travelled on a large map of Canada.
The official launch of the challenge is today at 9 a.m. Vice-principal Heather Perry, who's an Olympic torch bearer for the area, will start the challenge.
The partners that make the program possible include District 18 community schools, the South Devon parent school support committee and home and school association, the City of Fredericton's InMotion committee and Devon Middle School.
