Base to conduct driving exercises around region

Soldiers from Canadian Forces Base Gagetown will be conducting driver training in a number of New Brunswick municipalities until Nov. 16.

Residents can expect to see military vehicles in Gagetown, Jemseg, Mactaquac, Petersville, Rusagonis and Sunpoke.

The training of Canadian Forces personnel isn't expected to pose a significant disturbance to those communities. Base officials said all precautionary measures and safety procedures will be adhered to during the scheduled exercises.

Bylaw related to train station available for public review

A proposed city bylaw that will allow J.D. Irving to proceed with zoning changes to permit an addition to the York Street train station is now available for public review at the city clerk's office at city hall on Queen Street.

The railway station's owners are asking for the zoning change for 380-390 York St. in order to permit the construction of a new liquor store attached to the front part of the historic railway station.

The public has 30 days in which to review the bylaw and submit written comments.

The city will also schedule a public hearing of objections as part of the normal bylaw approval process.

A bylaw requires three readings by city council before it is considered approved.
