MONCTON - A Moncton man charged after an abduction, stabbing and extortion has been handed a 48-month sentence.

Claude Francis Blanchard, 35, will only serve 30 months in federal penitentiary because he was given credit for time already served.

Blanchard was charged by RCMP after a Feb. 6 incident where a man was roughed up, stabbed in the leg and robbed of about $1,000.

Judge Pierre Arsenault imposed the sentence in provincial court this week after Blanchard changed his plea to guilty.

Blanchard and a co-accused have been in custody since shortly after the crime.

Wow people with the thumbs down, think about it for a second just for one second, someone who beats a man just marking his face taking out some teeth gets 2 YEARS, and someone who STABS someone obviously with the intent to kill not just to fillet and try out his new knife gets 2 years something is OBVIOUSLY wrong here

MT... just goes to show you, that you're right. Anyone who would "thumbs down" your comment, is probably one of those people who should be in jail, but are not, because the justice system only works in favor of the criminal.
