Donations are pouring in and a community benefit is in the works for a mother and her child seriously injured in a May 2 motor-vehicle accident on Woodstock Road near Hartt Island Campground.

Organizer Cindy Essensa said a benefit, dance and silent auction is planned for the Harvey Recreation Centre on May 31 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The three-vehicle suppertime collision claimed the life of John Woodward of Prince William. His partner Bonnie Price and their seven-year-old son, Spencer, were seriously injured and flown to hospital in Halifax.

Essensa said Spencer Price is in the IWK Hospital.

His mother is being treated at the QEII Hospital.

Essensa said Prince William and Harvey are rallying around the family.

"We want to do all we can to help them out," she said. "We will also establish a trust fund that will benefit the family over a longer period of time."
