NORTH PRESTON, N.S. - Two rocks were thrown at an RCMP cruiser travelling through a community on the outskirts of Dartmouth, N.S., on Saturday night.

It was the second rock-throwing incident involving police cruisers working in the community of North Preston over the past seven days.

RCMP say in the latest incident, large rocks dented the rear passenger panel above the wheel, as the cruiser drove slowly through the community.

There were no injuries to the police members in the vehicle.

Cpl. Joe Taplin said late last week two police cars had rocks thrown at them from wooded areas near a community firehall.

"It's a residential area and the RCMP members are taking their time, trying to be observant going through the community," he said. "These projectiles are coming out of the woods."

Police stopped and searched the area, but couldn't find any suspects.

Taplin said police are seeking public assistance identifying the rock throwers.

"We have officers trying to keep a community safe and it takes one or two individuals to do something like this that could seriously injure a person trying to do his or her job," said Taplin.

"It's very cowardly act is what it is."
