Eagles blank Stingers in U12 soccer league
Karla O'Mahoney and Megan McKeever each scored two goals and Savannah Ferguson supplied the shutout as the Oromocto Eagles blanked FDSA MacTavish's Source for Sports Stingers in Girls U12 Division 1 Western Region soccer play. Madison Hill and Mary Cronin shared the goaltending for the Stingers.
Woodstock in to face Loyalists today
The Fredericton Loyalists B side men's team host the Woodstock Wildmen in exhibition rugby play today at 2 p.m. The two teams playued in Woodstock last week, with the Loyalists earning a convincing 42-12 win. The Lady Loyalists are on the road to face the Moncton Black Tide in the New Brunswick Rugby Union regular season opener. Game time is 11 a.m. at Bernice McNaughton Field.
Meanwile, the New Brunswick Black Spruce are in Halifax to take on the Nova Scotia Keltics this afternoon. The Spruce won the first meeting between the teams here on June 6, earning a hard fought 13-12 win.
Kids of Steel Triathlon set next Saturday
Youngsters from ages five to 14 are eligile to compete in the Kids of Steel Triathlon next Saturday, July 4 at Killarney Lake in Fredericton. Cost is $10 per athlete or a maximum $15 per family. Distances range from 25 meters to 250 meters in the swim, one to seven kilometres on the bike ride and 250 meters to two kilometres on the run, depending on the age group. Athletes should have their bikes there for mandatory check at 8 a.m. Registration may be done at the Radical Edge Bike Ship. Lady Gladiators host Halifax at Chapman
The Capital Area Lady Gladiators will host the Halifax Xplosion in Maritime Women's Football League action at Chapman Field today at 5 p.m. While they're normally booked at Leo Hayes High School Field, the venue has been switched this week. It's their final regular season home game.Lady Gladiators are 1-2 on the season. The Gladiators men's team is off this week.
Tommies hockey school has openings

Tiger plays charity golf at Fox Harb'r resort
WALLACE, N.S. - Tiger Woods touched down in Nova Scotia on Friday for a charity golf game at an exclusive resort.
The game's best golfer played a nine-hole exhibition against NBA hall of famer Charles Barkley at Fox Harb'r Resort, which boasts a championship-calibre layout and a private airstrip and marina.
Woods said he was thrilled to be in Canada again.
"What is there not to like? I'm mean, really," he told CTV News. "I've been coming here for so long and absolutely love it."
