Published Tuesday November 3rd, 2009

Third year winger Hunter Tremblay finds himself in a three-way tie with teammate Luke Gallant and UPEI's Matthew Carter atop the scoring derby in the Atlantic University Sport men's hockey conference after the first month of action.
Partly because of that, the Timmins, Ont. native was named UNB Valley Graphics Male Athlete of the Month for October yesterday.
In six games, all UNB victories, Tremblay has amassed 13 points including six goals. Gallant, the second-year defenceman, has two goals and 11 assists while Carter, a centre, had seven goals and six assists leading the way for UPEI.
Tremblay was particularly outstanding as the V-Reds opened the season at home, registering three goals and two assists in a 10-0 rout over UPEI and adding two goals and two assists as UNB defeated Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleu 9-3. Both games were at the Aitken Centre.
UNB finds itself on the road this weekend with games in Antigonish, N.S. on Friday and Halifax against Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday. Both are 7 o'clock starts with coverage on CHSR-FM 97.9 beginning with V-Reds Game Day at 6:30.
First year swimmer Danielle Loiser of Fredericton recorded four gold medals at the annual Amby Leger Swim Meet on Oct. 18, qualifying for the CIS championships in each of the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.
She was also a member of UNB's relay team taking second place in each of the 200m freestyle, 200m and 400m medley and 400m mixed freestyle relays. As a result of that performance, she is the UNB Valley Graphics Female Athlete of the Month for October.
First year Bobbi Wilson of Oromocto is the Coastal Graphics Athlete of the Month for October at St. Thomas University after winning the gold medal for women's golf at the ACAA championships held in Charlottetown.
Bobbi's score of 77 also helped the Tommies win female team laurels at the ACAA event.

Conn gets award
Justin Conn, who played linebacker for the Fredericton High School Black Kats, was named defensive player of the week in the Quebec University Football Conference by virtue of his performance on behalf of the Bishop's Gaiters on Sunday.
Conn, a 6'3'', 230-pound linebacker, had 10 solo tackles in the Gaiters 40-38 win over the Concordia Stingers. It's the most tackles given to one player since James Yurichuk was credited with 11 for Bishop's against McGill Redmen in October of 2007.
The victory leaves the Gaiters with a 4-4 record and a third place finish in the Quebec League. They'll face the Moncton Carabins, 5-3, in conference semifinal action Saturday in Montreal.
