Castors, Crusaders meet in soccer final

Ecole Sainte-Anne Castors won a pair of matches yesterday to earn a spot in the district 18 middle school varsity boys soccer championship today at Nashwaaksis Middle School Field beginning at 4 p.m. ESA defeated Bliss Carman Eagles 5-1 with Bienvenue Osee scoring twice. Single markers were via Philippe LeBlanc, Xhan Zajmi and Georges Hirwa. Nick Bransfield scored for Bliss Carman. ESA also beat Harvey High 1-0 with Antonio Molina finding the back of the net. Dylan LeBlanc had the shutout.

Stanley triumphant in district soccer

Stanley Middle School defeated Devon Middle School 2-1 in the final of the Hatheway & Instrum middle school boys tier II soccer tourney held at Stanley. Brandon Colford and Matt Carrier with the game winner led Stanley. Emilsano Santos had the goal for Devon. Carrier was named tourney MVP. Semifinals saw Stanley defeat Devon Park 5-0 with Carrier scoring two and singles by Cole Spilman, Kyle Fullarton and Garrett Humble. Devon Middle defeated McAdam 3-0 with Junior Brown scoring the hattrick.

Bliss Carman unbeaten in JV soccer playoffs

The Bliss Carman School Eagles advanced to Friday's Hatheway and Instrum District 18 JV girls soccer finals by going 1-0-1 in Group 1 round-robin play. Bliss Carman beat George Street 2-0 after playing Keswick Valley to a scoreless draw. George Street downed KV 2-0 in the other game.

Axemen vs. Tigers game postponed

Concerns about the H1N1 virus has forced postponement of Wednesday's regularly scheduled Atlantic University Sport men's hockey conference game between Acadia Axemen and Dalhousie Tigers scheduled for Wolfville. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7 pm in Wolfville. The decision was made in consultation with health professionals as a number of Dalhousie players have been quarantined after exhibiting flu-like symptoms. UNB is scheduled to play Dal on Saturday night.

Maritime Lacrosse tourney in Wolfville

UNB Generals will be one of six teams competing at the Maritime University Field Lacrosse championship tournament scheduled for Wolfville Saturday and Sunday. UNB, which won four of seven matches during the season, plays Acadia Laxmen in one quarterfinal match. Winner meets South regular season champion

Dalhousie Tigers in semifinal play. Mount Allison takes on Saint Mary's in the other quarterfinal with the winner meeting North champ St. Francis Xavier X-Men. Scoring statistics show UNB's Fraser Chapman tied for fifth with Terry Sutherland of Saint Mary's, each with 28 points. Chapman has 21 goals and seven assists in seven games. Nick Thebeau of St. FX is the leader with 35 points including 16 goals in seven games.

Sr. floor shuffleboard weekly winners

The latest winners in the Fredericton seniors floor shuffleboard league were: Helena Savoie and Rene Savoie; Cedric Marr and Aulda Yerxa; Len Peterson and Larry Coy; Norma Mullaly and Joan Sabean; Ward White and John Toon.
