Bantam Caps sweep games on home ice

District 3 Servicemaster Clean Caps swept a pair of provincial bantam AAA hockey league games on home ice during the weekend. Oliver Cooper and Zack Whitlock each had two goals as the Caps defeated Codiac Subways 8-2. Connor Lewis, Matt Astle, Spencer Smallman and Noah Zilbert had the other goals. Patrick St-Onge had 11 saves for the winners. Alex Collette faced 57 shots in the Subways cage. Zilbert had eight points including three goals and Whitlock added seven including four goals lifting the Caps over Acadian Peninsula Lynx 18-1. Cooper and Smallman each had two goals with singles to Lewis, Astle, Jon Penney, Chris Bamford, Matt Miller, Neil O'Donnell and Mitchell Vanderlaan. Caps had 67 shots on Antoine Landry while Ryan Foley faced 18 in the Caps net. Caps play Acad. Penn. Saturday and West Kent Sunday on the road.

Reds volleyball club captures 3 tourneys

Teams from the Reds Volleyball Club were winners at three separate tournaments on the weekend. The Reds 15U Crimson got 11 serving aces from Meghan Carson in winning the 11-team CVC tournament in Petit-Rocher. They defeated CVC of Bathurst 25-20 and 25-14 in the final. The Reds 14U team finished 2-4 and the Reds 15U Mirage was 1-5 at the same tourney. Reds 16U Crimson won the 10-team Bliss Carman Invitational, going 6-0 in the round-robin and beating Moncton Bleu et Or 25-12 and 25-15 in the final. Sandie Germaine had 23 skills to pace the Reds. Jill Fox added 17 skills while setter Kristyn Murphy assisted on 58 kills. Reds 17U Crimson needed three sets to defeat CVC 18U team of Bathurst in the final of the 18U tourney in Sussex. Set scores in the final were 25-17, 25-27 and 15-11. Also playing in the Sussex event were the Reds 17U development team finishing 0-6 and the 18U Crimson finishing with a 4-2 record.

Local teams out of medals in ringette

Fredericton teams were shut out in the medal games at the Fredericton Youth Ringette Association Early Bird tournament held on the weekend at a number of venues. Winning the novice division was Riverview defeating Shediac Cap Pele 6-5. Dieppe One won the Petite Division beating Shediac Cap Pele 3-0. It was Kent Sud beating Shediac Cap Pele 6-5 in the Tween Division. Shediac Cap Pele posted a 4-0 win over Memramcook in the Junior Belle Division.

Price tops in girls singles in badminton

It was Kelsie Price of Bliss Carman finishing first in singles play at the Grade 8 girls Early Bird badminton tournament held at George St. Second was Kylie Paulsen of Bliss Carman followed by Kristen Adam of George St. and Katelyn Tompkins of George St. In doubles play, it was Sarah McGeachy and Miranda Wallace of George St. finishing first followed in order by Erica Goodin and Leah Edmondson of Bliss Carman, Katie Daley and Ali Balcom of Bliss Carman and Karly Piercy and Emily Archibald of George St.

Brennan captures boys badminton title

It was Ryker Brennan of Bliss Carman finishing first in the Grade 8 boys Early Bird badminton tournament hosted by Devon Middle School. Patrick Kendall of Bliss Carman was second followed by Robert Chan of Nashwaaksis in third spot. Winning the doubles title were Ben O'Blenis and Luke McCully of Bliss Carman followed by Richard Du and Jaung Woo Park of Bliss Carman. Third were Luke Edwards and Nathan Harvey of Devon Middle School.

M'ville sr. mixed bowling winners

The latest winners in the Marysville seniors mixed bowling league are: women's high single and triple: Carol Dickeson, 109 and 290; high no mark: Millie Boudreau 89; men's high single and triple: Fred Allen, 145 and 337; high no mark: Fred Wyllie 81.

Nasis sr. mixed bowling winners

The lastest winners in the Nashwaaksis seniors mixed bowling league are: Friday action: women's high single and no mark: Elizabeth Savoie, 103 and 87; high triple: Betty Foster, 282; men's high single: Bill Whitlock 106; high triple: Burt Springer 307; high no mark: Harold King 86; Monday action: women's high single and triple: Betty Foster, 103 and 293; high no mark: Elizabeth Savoie 82; men's high single and triple: Stewart Foster, 104 and 300; high no mark: David Jenkins 89.
