Sharpe scores 29 for Scoops Hoops

Amanda Sharpe swished 29 points to spark Scoops Hoops to a 71-42 victory over Plummer's Penguins in UNB Women's Basketball Spring League play. Julie McAllister helped out with 18.

Carolyn Peppin potted a dozen points for the Penguins, who also lost 75-64 to the Jr. V-Reds. Shannon McCarthy and Brittany Gillis led the Reds with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Carolyn Plummer scored 25 points for the Pens. Gillis drained 18 points to pace the Jr. V-Reds to a 61-58 win over Swift Christies. Kathleen Singh answered with 19.

In the Grade 9 and 10 league, the Jayhawks beat the Black Bears 64-40 as Jennifer Kelly connected for 24 points and Emily Hazlett added 16. Emile Landry replied with 10. The Vols downed the Black Bears 72-34 thanks to 26 points by Amy Appleby and 17 more by Laura Fowler. Shannon McGeachey countered with 19.
