Canada to play for World Cup gold

MATSUYAMA, Japan - Canada rallied for a pair of runs in the sixth inning to defeat Australia 7-6 Thursday and advance to the gold-medal game at the IBAF Women's Baseball World Cup.

Autumn Mills of London, Ont., tied things up with an RBI triple and then came around with the go-ahead run on a single by Ashley Stephenson of Mississauga, Ont., for the Canadians, who face Japan in today's final. Unbeaten Japan defeated the United States 9-5 in the other semifinal.

Kate Psota of Burlington, Ont., pitched a scoreless sixth and then shut the door in the seventh to preserve the victory over the Aussies.
