China wins v'ball gold

BEIJING - Xue Chen and Zhang Xi have won China's first medal in beach volleyball, beating Brazilians Talita and Renata for the bronze.

Playing in a steady rain that soaked the players and left them hitting a heavy ball, Xue and Zhang won 21-19, 21-17.

Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor play China's top team Tian Jia and Wang Jie for the gold medal later Thursday.
